Overview
This is the most cost effective, safe and adventurous way to discover the Zambezi Region formally known as Caprivi. Tour departs/ends from Victoria Falls.
The Zambezi Region is a narrow strip of territory that runs through Namibia’s north-east area. This part of the country has a number of distinct characteristics: The territory is home to six tribes, and it borders Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Angola. It is surrounded by the perennial Chobe, Kwando, Linyanti, and Zambezi rivers, and it is home to the Bwabwata, Nkasa Rupara, Mudumu, and Mahango National Parks.
Despite its location as a crossroads for all of these regions, there are few developed towns in this area, but small subsistence settlements abound. The beauty of the Caprivi rests in the natural beauty of its surrounds. Katima Mulilo, on the banks of the Zambezi River, is the region’s capital. Riverine woods and canals dominate the environment, which are rich in flora and fauna, with a large number of bird species, four of the Big Five, and a long list of antelope and game animals.
he National Parks in this area are becoming increasingly popular, owing to the fact that they provide seasoned adventurers with a distant and unspoiled wilderness. The location is steeped in history, having been the site of a tug-of-war in the late 1800s involving the locals, the British, and the Germans. It is currently home to a variety of ethnic tribes who make a living as subsistence farmers and are slowly benefiting from the growing tourism sector.
