Sandwich Harbour - part of the Namib Naukluft Park - is a place many have heard of but very few have ever visited. Giant sand dunes run straight into the ocean, creating breathtaking sceneries and unique landscapes, just waiting to be discovered!

The Sailing + Desert 4x4 Adventure provides the ultimate combination of viewing marine life on a leisure sailing cruise on the Atlantic Ocean and exploring the fauna and flora with a ride in the breathtaking Sandwich Harbour Area of the Namib Naukluft Park.

Experience a piece of Namibia's central scenic coastline exposed to the stormy South Atlantic Ocean claiming numerous ships over past centuries. Combine the scenic beauty and wildlife of the Kuiseb Delta and Sandwich Harbour, as we explore further South along the coastline to an area where the Namibian coast claimed another victim, the Shawnee, a transport tug that ran aground in foul weather on 16 February 1976 about 15 miles north of Conception Bay.

The lagoon, salt pans and the bird sanctuary which form the Walvis Bay Wetlands are rightly heralded as the single most important coastal wetlands of Southern Africa and one of five Ramsar sites in Namibia. Over 150 000 migrant birds spend the summer months in Walvis Bay and non-breeding palearctic and intra-African species dominate.

This three-day adventure provide the experiences of driving through some of the most spectacular dune areas, overnighting in a tented camp close to the ocean, viewing two shipwrecks, visiting areas of great historical interest and see untouched sceneries, fauna and flora.

Our most popular tour, as real adventure start here for the ride of your life. We ride the wildest dunes of the Namib with excellent photographic opportunities.

We take you on a Quad bike tour through the desert to explore the different plant and animal live of the Namib desert. Make a lot of stops on the way – while guide will show and tell a little about the creatures of the desert. Much slower Quad tour for pure enjoyment!

An hour quad drive to the sand boarding dune, one hour lie down sandboarding and then an hour quad tour back to Desert Explorers.

Drive through the dunes. Have an amazing breakfast at Rossmund Golf Club and then enjoy the drive back. Enjoy the morning fresh air in the Namib!

This tour takes you north of Swakopmund to the quartzite gravel plains to search for the arid-adapted and cryptic Gray’s Lark. From here we travel to the wetlands near the Swakopmund salt works.

Enjoy the sights the of  "little lark" one of the most arid-adapted birds in the world at the base of the huge red dunes of the Namib running rapidly over the bare sand between patches of vegetation and dune grass.

The Key species for this trip are Dune Lark, Gray’s Lark, Orange River White-eye, Tractrac Chat and the only true Namibian endemic the Dune Lark. There have been 76 different species of birds, 14 mammals and many reptiles on this tour.

From the gravel plains of the Namib, fill your day with the adventure of searching for the arid-adapted and cryptic Gray’s Lark, to the wetlands near the Swakopmund where you will encounter large flocks of both Greater and Lesser flamingos, a variety of waders including White-fronted Plover and may more!
