Chobe National Park is well known for its large herds of elephant that frequent the Chobe River daily. In the dry season, an estimate of up to 85,000 elephants are dispersed within the Chobe National Park, where the majority of them can be found along the river. Apart from the herds of elephants, Chobe also has lots more to offer. The Park has lion, leopard, buffalo and a whole host of antelope such as sable, puku, kudu, eland, roan and many others which you can get to see. The river teems with rafts of hippos and some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa.

Elephant in large herds or small groups are almost a guarantee…and you’ll thrill to the sight of multiple antelope species, grazing contently but with an instinctive eye on lurking crocodiles. Hippos and their cute calves honk, splash and communicate noisily. Maybe you’ll witness a kill by lions, a leopard, hyena, jackal or caracul…spell-binding predators all.

This is an extremely cost-effective way of enjoying what the Chobe River has to offer. It’s an ideal chance to become acquainted with the immense beauty of the Chobe flood plains (that are more like a lake when the annual floods come in April/May.) KASANE to VIC FALLS. A transfer from your hotel leads to the Botswana border, then through Zimbabwe immigration, where another vehicle will transfer you to the Victoria Falls, about an hour away. With your guide, you enter the Zambezi National Park to view the famous Falls, where “scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight,” . A delicious lunch (included) at a local restaurant is followed by a visit to a craft market to experience the incredible creativity and talent of local crafts folk.

Put your watch back several hundred years when you arrive at the uniquely-positioned Impalila Island that straddles the confluence of four countries…Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
